The cost for a charter on the MV Aari is $160.00 per person (Saturdays and Public Holidays). $150 per person all other days.
This price includes rod and reel hire, morning tea and tea/coffee on board.

Where is the accommodation?
We deal through the local Motels in Moeraki and depending on the size of the group it will either be at the Motels or a local holiday house which is managed by the Motels. We also arrange accommodation in Hampden which is another excellent location just a four minute drive from Moeraki.

Do I need to bring bedding?
No all bedding and towels are included in the package

What meals are included with the package?
A continental breakfast will be supplied at your accommodation. Your evening meal is a selection of the main menu board at the Moeraki Tavern. Morning tea and lunch assortment supplied on the charter.

What sort of fish will we be targeting?
Blue cod and sea perch are our main species but you can also catch trumpeter, tarakahi and possibly groper.

What other sea life or bird life will I see on our charter?
Albatross and mollymawks. Cape pigeons, giant petrel, muttonbirds and sea shags. Seals and Sea Lions. Dolphins are often seen over the summer months.

What do I need to bring on my charter?
Warm clothing and good footwear. Hats, sunglasses and sunscreen. A camera if you want to get some pictures of your trip. Cold refreshments.

Is there a toilet on board?
Yes

How long will my trip be?
You need to allow around 5 hours for your charter although this can vary depending on the marine/fishing conditions. Trips can also be tailored to suit your group so please ask.

MV AARI

The Aari is a 40 foot alloy vessel and has a large deck space and excellent on board facilities including – good toilet facilities, large kitchen and inside seating area, full cover out the back and drop down covers, high deck railings along with brand new rods and Alvey reels.

It is fitted out with all the latest safety equipment including EPIRB (Emergency Position-Indicating Radio Beacon and Lifejackets and Life rings. We also have a VHF radio which is in contact with land. Cellphone coverage is also very extensive over the fishing grounds.

The MV Aari is issued with a Safe Ship Management Certificate from Maritime NZ (number 121045) to operate as a Charter Vessel in the Moeraki area.

The Aari is surveyed to take groups of up to 15 passengers.

Moeraki Fishing Charters has been running since 1991 in the small fishing village of Moeraki in North Otago running the MV Kiwa.

Prior to this the 37 foot  “KIWA” was a commercial fishing vessel used for crayfishing.

Kirsten and Callum purchased the business in 2009 and have been successfully running the MV Kiwa as a charter boat since then.

In February 2013 we were pleased with the arrival of the MV Aari to our team. Aari is a larger boat than the Kiwa and we look forward to being able to offer some different fishing trips on this boat.
