About Moeraki Fishing Charters

About Moeraki Fishing Charters

Moeraki Fishing Charters has been running since 1991 in the small fishing village of Moeraki in North Otago.

Prior to this the 37 foot  "KIWA" was a commercial fishing vessel used for crayfishing.

The KIWA is the only boat in Moeraki that is running as a 7 day a week charter boat.

KIWA was built by the Pile family in 1968  to use for fishing around the Moeraki coast and is an excellent sea vessel.

KIWA provides a great way for family and friends to spend a fun day together fishing and sightseeing around the coast of Moeraki.

Callum and Kirsten Buchanan have been running the business since October 2009 and look forward to providing excellent service to all existing clients and new clients.

Callum Buchanan - Skipper/Owner

Callum has been working on commercial fishing boats since High School. Callum has been commercial fishing for crayfishing and bluecod, diving for paua and dredging for clams. Callum has worked out of Kaka Point in the Catlins, Knights Point on West Coast up from Haast, Stewart Island, Fiordland from Doubtful to Dusky Sound and Cloudy Bay in the Marlborough Sounds. Callum has an extensive fishing background and is now looking forward to working out of Moeraki and using his knowledge to help you enjoy and make the most of your fishing trip with Moeraki Fishing Charters.
